We had two Da Vinci discussion nights over the last two weeks. About a dozen folks showed up each night. Most of the attendees had not read the book
"The Da Vinci Code" or seen the movie.
We talked about what the book was about and what errors were told by the characters. We watched a great DVD called
"Jesus Decoded" that was produced by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and was aired by many TV stations across that nation within the last few weeks. This DVD is available in the parish library for checkout.
We explained in the discussion that our position was that this books tells untruths in a way that if you don't know much about the Church, you would think that the information was true. So, for those that know it is not true, we have no problem. But the book and movie have reached so many people that many will think these lies are true. We are concerned about those that are not sure of their faith.
We still have some of the
"Da Vinci Deception" books available in the vestibule of the Church as well.
If you would like to speak to someone about
"The Da Vinci Code", you can call me, Kevin Ryan at 277-3428.
